So I saw Beauty and the Beast on Tuesday as you guys probably all know by now..and what did I think?

It...it was okay. It is NOT as great as everyone makes it seem. The new reboot/remake just...argh. It makes the direct to video prequel to the original animated classic Belle's Enchanted Christmas whatever the hell it's called actually look decent enough to watch. I don't know because I haven't seen that movie because I've read reviews including the Nostalgia Critic review that says the movie is just...awful and the only thing about it that seems good is Tim Curry!

Now let me start of this review by saying this. I do not think Emma Watson is that bad of an actress.  I thought she was great in the role of Hermione Granger. Not fantastic. But great. But I feel like the role of Belle was miscast. I think Emma was cast sorely because a lot of fans had placed her in the role in fan castings memes in the past and many thought she was the perfect Belle due to her role as Hermione Granger for the past eight movies of Harry Potter. Emma has been in a good movie. Watch her in Perks of Being A Wallflower.

Her singing...okay originally I had hopes that it would be just for the soundtrack and I was overhyped at the time. Buuttt it's terrible. You can hear the forced auto-tune at points like 'Days in the Sun' and 'Belle Reprise'.

Dan Stevens...for some of the movie...he was alright...but he didn't get the rage right enough for the Beast. Hell. In the movie during the prologue. You know what happens to the painting of himself? Just a few streaks not really damaging enough to the entire painting! And the West Wing..didn't look destroyed or abandoned enough!

Oh and the beginning of the the movie with the freaking Enchantress...my god this made her more of a villain than say...I dunno Maleficent! It's like they needed something to show and 'bam' we get a rushed prologue. The original prologue had pacing..this just feels rushed.

The people I liked the most in this movie, were Kevin Kline as Maurice, Luke Evans as Gaston, Josh Gad as LeFou, Ewan McGregor as Lumière and Ian McKellan as Cosgworth.  Emma Thompson..was passable as Mrs. Potts. But she was nowhere near as good as Angela Lansbury.

My god why would you cast Audra McDonald as the Wardrobe...six time Tony winner... One of the only good things of Sound of Music Live as Mother Abbess aside from Laura Betnani as Elsa Schräder! This movie is on par with Sound of Music Live except I watch this reboot again over sitting through three hours of Sound of Music Live. They even cut her singing at the beginning and end! I was looking forward to hearing her have her own song when I found out she was cast. Why couldn't they just let McDonald sing the reprise of Beauty and the Beast instead of letting Emma Thompson take over from her...?

Oh and if you're expecting Chip's brothers and sisters from the animated movie...they cut them out. Chip's an only child. And I don't really mind that change.

There were some plot-holes fixed...which i liked. But not all of them. There were just some stuff that was used in the movie that was really not needed.

The gay scene...was just a fleeting moment! It's just a mere blink and miss. I really don't understand the outrage at the whole 'Lefou being gay'.

For the majority of the movie..it's literally copy and paste from the animated movie. Don't waste your breath.

Dare I say it...they turned Belle into a friggin' Mary Sue when I watched this movie. She made freaking Bella Swan look smart!

I'm actually quite nervous to read the companion book Lost in a Book the plot seems interesting enough but it involves the an attempted plot device that went nowhere in the movie.

I'll be honest...I'd watch it again like with some movies I own...only when I'm absolutely bored and I want something to watch or review. This movie..I rather sit through quite a few times than sitting through Cinderella (which...is eh...alright i thought it was okay.) or Maleficent. But I rather watch the Jungle Book again than to watch this remake again. The only remake I haven't seen is Pete's Dragon only because I haven't seen the original film.

...I think they shouldn't have made this a musical..as much as I liked some of the new songs and changes...I don't think the director is too bad....well he did direct a movie for the Twilight Saga but...he had a part in the film adaptation of the musical Chicago which I enjoyed and the film adaptation of the musical Dreamgirls.

I feel like they chose the wrong writers and director to make this movie. There could've been so much more with this movie...but we ended up with this...I'm not even looking forward to the upcoming Lion King remake because it'll fall under this movie. Mulan however, I do have hopes it could be good like Jungle Book.

The only songs I really liked in this are Be Our Guest, the Mob Song, Gaston, Evermore, Days in the Sun.

I want to rant on more...but...well...I'm just going to leave it at this...

Oh. Belle does not have Stockholm Syndrome...though I'd like to think that this movie kinda made this version of Belle have it...Sick and tired of hearing Belle being joked with it.

EDIT: I also liked how they made the Bimbettes not dumb blondes. I guess that's another change I liked along with Belle reading to a girl and some others.

I agree with pretty much all of this. I DESPISE the live-action remake with every fibre of my being. Of course others have every right to enjoy it, but to me, it fails on practically every level, from acting to music to costuming to even basic story and cinematographic choices. Many of the visual motifs in the original film were either distorted or thrown out completely; they inserted new story lines that don't contribute to the overall plot structure, cause more plot holes than they solve, and bloat the running time to almost 2 hours; they ruined the gorgeous score by adding all these instrumental breaks that only disturb the flow of the music; the ballroom scene feels so claustrophobic compared to the animated version and the camera work is so static compared to the way the camera swoops up and down in the animated film, and don't even get me started on Emma Watson's singing or acting. When a series of drawings by an animator has more emotion than your acting, something is very wrong.
